Wow. I can just see the whole thing! :) How exciting it must have been. I remember the first time I heard them too. Very similar experience although by the time I got round to them I was not this young, and it was many years in the future beyond the life of the band. Even in today's modern era, the Beatles' music is explosive. Hearing them on the radio or on a mixed iPod playlist, you instantly feel the energy, the excitement as they burst from the speakers. They were like no one--no one else had that spark, no one else could do that in quite that way. There was something very special about them. They cut through everything, slam into your guts and make you feel them, not just listen. I think somehow the Beatles seemed to capture not only the heartbeat of the time period, but also what it means to be young and so alive. There's something so universal about them that goes beyond culture and language and time...they are as relevant today as ever. They sound like youth, like sunny blue days and perfect weather, like unexplored horizons, like dreams waiting to be fulfilled. When life is bigger and better than you can possibly imagine, and all you have to do is reach out for it. :) Yeah. I love the Beatles too. :)
